This fragrance is inspired by the traditional ingredients frequently used in love spells as passed down through herbal folktales. The star component of this fragrance is tonka bean, a flat, wrinkled legume from South America originally used to sweeten pipe tobacco. The smell of tonka bean is unique and difficult to pinpoint but commonly described to have a rich, nutty, and spicy aroma with scent notes of earthy hay, almond, clove, and cinnamon. Tonka truly has a mystical aroma. Known as the love wishing bean, tonka has a long history, particularly in Hoodoo traditions, for use in love spells.
Coriander seeds also have a long tradition as a love potion ingredient. Historical records ranging from the ancient Greeks and Chinese to medieval and Renaissance Europe reveal this ingredient to be used in love potions and in wine as a potent aphrodisiac. Crushed coriander seeds have a slightly sweet and herbal orange-lemony scent. On top of the full-bodied tonka bean, there is just enough of the citrusy coriander note to add a little playfulness to this romantic fragrance. Topping off this fragrance is a drizzle of honey to sweeten our love spell!
